Leadership Development & High School Credit Programs

Leaders-In-Training (LIT) Program (1 month)

For youth born in 1997

This intensive, month-long training program focuses on leadership development , including the interpersonal skills that are critical to be a successful leader. As well LITs will have the opportunity to achieve their Leadership and Peer Support,Grade 11 (GPP30) High School credit. An extended out-trip trip is taken and advanced tripping techniques are developed.

To register for the LIT program, simply complete the regular registration form and return it to the Camp Registrar with your deposit.

LIT A - July 2 to July 27, 2012
LIT B - July 30 to Aug. 24, 2012

Counsellor-In-Training (CIT) Program (1 month)

For youth born in 1996

This program is designed for youth who are interested in becoming part of the Sparrow Lake Camp staff team. During a month-long training period, an emphasis will be placed on developing the interpersonal skills that are critical for successful leadership. The CITs will develop their camp counselling skills and learn to deal with camper issues. Participants will learn through workshops. As well each CIT will be linked with a cabin group to gain first-hand experience with campers. As well the CIT will have the opportunity to achieve their Recreation and Fitness Leadership, Grade 12 (PLF4C) High School credit

Successful completion of the CIT program is excellent preparation for a Sparrow Lake Camp staff position in future years. However, completion of the program does not guarantee such a position.
